overdiep 0 Posted July 25, 2013 Michael, In my imagination it is a stand still of a detective movie. In front there is a dead body, I expect. Best regards, Marco Link to comment

Guest Guest Posted July 27, 2013 Nice leading line and definitive composition with the car so emphatically aligned centered and at the end of the path. The grays are not doing much for me. The tones and shadows seem a little underwhelming, so a kind of malaise sets in where the composition seems otherwise to be meant to be dynamic and leading. Link to comment
Wouter Willemse 851 Posted July 28, 2013 I quite like Marco's reading, indeed it has something of a German police series scene to it. Made me grin :-) My initial own reading was a bit one of disappointment... the photo strongly guides me into the centre of the photo, in a way that holds a certain suspense, to find a .... quite normal car. It's a bit like leading up a great concert to a grand finale consisting of a piece everybody knows by heart, played without joy.And then looking again, maybe that's exactly the point to it all. Maybe that's not a bad thing. Play with your audience, surprise them. If it's intentional, I can appreciate the idea behind it for sure. But whether a wide® audience would appreciate your play with their senses is a bit a questionmark, of course. Link to comment
michaellinder 16,611 Posted July 28, 2013 I really hadn't thought of a story line for this image, but I like yours. Link to comment
michaellinder 16,611 Posted July 28, 2013 My intent for this photograph, and hence the title, was to have the car's headlights to be the brightest elements in the frame. Because of the trees lining both sides of the walkway, the tonality was quite dark, and maybe the added contrast that provided might have made the image more dramatic. I'm not sure what my thoughts were at the time regarding darkening the highlights a bit and also lightening the darker areas. Link to comment
michaellinder 16,611 Posted July 28, 2013 Indeed, it would have been far more impactful had a deer been standing on the road or had the car been heading in my direction. Even better, a dead body!!Having witnessed otherwise dazzling musical performances with uninspiring endings, I do see your point about the concert and how that applies to this image. Link to comment
