Landrum Kelly 64 Posted July 24, 2013 Levels were adjusted upward (it was quite dark), and it was resized. Otherwise, this is what came out of the camera. Compare to version one, in which I attempted to show more shadow detail. Somewhere along the way, the color cast changed as well. --Lannie Link to comment
Jack McRitchie 150 Posted July 24, 2013 I prefer the more subdued version; upping the levels makes the image too sharp in my opinion. Here the color is quiet, the aura almost mournful, perhaps presaging the event to follow. One additional comment: for some reason this wooded glen has something of the feeling of a civil war battlefield Link to comment
Landrum Kelly 64 Posted July 25, 2013 Thanks, Jack. Actually, this one has levels increased--but only levels. The other has had the Shadows/Highlights filter adjusted in Photoshop as well. I really hadn't thought of the battlefield effect. I shall have to think about that a bit, as to why it might be so. --Lannie Link to comment
Jack McRitchie 150 Posted July 25, 2013 I wouldn't give it much thought, I think I just started free associating off the word Massacre in your title. That's all it probably took to get my mind rolling into picturing southern pastures and quiet orchards, little creeks and shady groves that were turned into scenes of bloody carnage during our time of fraternal hell. Landrum Kelly 64 Posted July 25, 2013 The funny thing, Jack, is that someone else told me the same thing! Until I did this underexposure (which I tried to ameliorate somewhat with levels), I had not really noticed the really mystical look that that corner of the yard used to have, before the owner decided to simplify yard care. --Lannie Link to comment
Landrum Kelly 64 Posted July 26, 2013 Here--once again--is the original file, resized. --Lannie Link to comment
