What do you think of this photo? It is the eye of a Haflinger. I put her hair in

front of her eye on purpose, so you would not see my reflection and to give

it this dreamy air.

Hi Irenen,

I like the aesthetics of this image.

However, with your lens, the use of F/13 would not ever be used by me. In fact, none of my 650 lens from my collections are ever used at such a high f-ratio setting because that spells image compromise every time. The only exceptions are for "special effects" , where motion blur is required by an increase in the exposure value or having to work with a poor lens that requires a very small aperture to compensate for lens aberrations and poor workmanship, etc..

Best Regards, Mike

Thank you for your comment!

I agree that 1/13 is a bit weird. During this session I changed my settings, so my camera would automatically set everything. The idea was to shoot the owner of this horse while riding, so the photo's didn't need to be perfect. But this photo turned out to be, in my opinion, quite a nice photo!

However, the F of 1/13 does give the DOF in which the entire eye including eyelashes are sharp. I have made many pictures of horse-eyes, but most of them  with 1/5.6 to 1/9.0 have indeed a smaller DOF. At least, that is what I believe. I should try it out in a series of photos.
