Two women talking on the stairs of a church.

I'd like to know if these pictures of people I am uploading lately

look like I never took a picture of somebody before (wich is almost

true :) or look at least nice. Obviously they look nice to me, so

please tell me where I could improve.

Thanks!

They look nice to me too Simone. And something I'm not very good at. This one is cropped a little tight on the left side but otherwise very well composed. Imo people shots are difficult as far as originality (so many of them out there) If you get a chance, look at Ian MacEchern's (sp) street scenes to get some ideas. He seems to have a knack for catching people in unique circumstances. Stay at this and it will become more obvious which images are common and which are truly unusual. I'd say as a beginner at this type of photography you too seem to have a knack ........................ (-;

Thanks Ken, I'll take a look at the photographer you are talking about. The left is cropped because there were those ladies' bags and it was either leave them all or crop them. Since they didn't look important i cropped.

I'll do some more of this, thanks a lot!

See if you can clone them out (the handbags) .............. I see 2 things in your candid images ......... a knack for it, especially for a relative beginner in this area and your desire to succeed at this type of photography shows thru as well -- stay with it and you will become successful at this genre ....... typically we learn more from our mistakes so don't be afraid to fail or be discouraged by the perspective of others .... I admire your persistance and desire to succeed.

Thanks again, Ken. I have seen MacEachern's portfolio and it's really impressive. I hope I'll be able to produce something on that level someday, and I really start to understand what a good candid picture should look like. I'm sure going to put some tri-x film in my ae-1 and see what I can get. I appreciate your input and comments, really.
