WOW!  What a great shot.  An eagle in flight with excellent detail, great DOF, and outstanding focus.  Bravo!

Thanks Bill! It's almost a fullsize shot and I only got one, lighting was dull (almost rain) and I had to use the flash with the better beamer flash extender to lighten up the dark plummage some.

A fantastic image well done with a good light, the eye is sharpen and the blur on the tip of the wings gives the sense of motion, ciao Giangiorgio

I am very surprised you got the stop action you did with 1/400 - your panning must have be spot on! I either pan to fast or to slow and get some blur at such slow speeds. With the lighting you had, you chose well to use the better beamer as the result is perfect. Great image.

Thanks Dave! For years, I shoot manual (old school from the days of no meter) and then I've been shooting iwth TV (Shutter Priority), but, for the last couple weeks or so I've been trying out Av (Aperture Priority) and that's why I got the low 1/400 SS. It's a gloomy morning and I figure I probably need F5 to get a bit more DOF and not worry about the SS. It turned out OK though. :-)

Thanks C. Thao! He/She got off the nest, flew around and head straight for me, must have been about no more than 10 feet above me . Lousy light but the flash helps! ... Let see if I can come back next month. :-)
