You have found a good standing point, I imagine the space is narrow at that site! Very nice inner framing I should say with great effect!

Great Framing, and nice photo for that unique location.

However i'm confused and wondering if this a color or monochrome or a photo with reduced saturation. I would have preferred for minimize the highlights a bit and give it a yellowish/red tone (the original tone). I can see a harsh light which you have managed to minimize and i can confirm you have done a nice job, we can still see a lot of details in the shadow of the columns which normally would go black under this light condition. I'm planning to be there in August, any suggestion about lenses or timing for visit?

Many thanks.

Petra is fascinating place - can say very much surrealist and in my opinion pictures can give you a only slight idea of its grandeur.

Entrance to the Petra is a almost 2 km canyon and in the end there is this breathtaking view.

All the best!!!

Many thanks on your comment!

This picture was taken on a high noon from a dark canyon and I wanted some texture on canyon walls, so this is the best I came up with (am an amateur after all). I could not came on some other time of the day since had only a three hours to see and picture what I can - and Petra is huge.

This image is converted to BW with slight toning since I struggled with a colors and couldn't make a decent looking image which will satisfied my amateur needs.

As I mentioned - Petra is huge, so you have to plan a three day visit if you want to see everything. There are fine hotels, everything is well organized, so you can comfortly schedule your visit and come to Petra early in the morning or late afternoon with better opportunities than me to catch a good light.

Ticket for visitors is quite expensive (one day ticket is 70 USD) but, trust me, it is worth!

And in the end of the day - rent a donkey! to get back.

As an amateur, I have and use Nikon kit lenses 18-55 mm which are good for my needs.

All the best!!! and cannot wait for your images - saw in your portfolio that you are a pretty good architecture photographer.
