I've observed this species in a Zoo before but, I can't think of the species name, (No expert here!) they are quite large.

It would surely be a priviledge to observe one in the wild!

I saw the same species in northern Namibia's Etosha Wildlife Reserve.  With this picture, I would have cropped the image and made it much smaller (basically a direct portrait of the bird instead of this larger environment shot).  I say this because the bird does not stans out from the grasses and there is little contrast.  So even though the bird is beautiful and exotic, it gets lost in the brown grass.  Very sharp definition though; the shot reminds me of good times traveling Africa.  Regards.

I think what we are looking at here is a Kori Bustard (Ardeotis kori).
