This boy could be anyone, and location is withheld, but he's full of

energy, comfortable and secure and exercising his body 'free form'

for a quick moment in a fast food restaurant while his loving parents

nearby keep a loose watch over him, trusting and marveling in him.

Your ratings, critiques and observations are invited and most

welcome. If you rate harshly, very critically, or wish to make a

remark, please submit a helpful and constructive comment; please

share your photographic knowledge to help improve my

photography. Thanks! Enjoy! john (boy's parents saw and

approved photo heartily -- and rest of my work).

John, I am not following you on this post, although I'm here commenting, it has more to do with lack of subject impact than anything else, the image is flat and something I would not expect from a photojournalist.
this image was really the most you had for inspiration in your day to share with us?

You have categorized me somewhat wrongly.

I am Not a photojournalist, though some of my work falls in that category.

You might try perusing some of Henri Cartier-Bresson's work to find that this is derivative of one of his works and somewhat of a take-off on it; though it takes some humor maybe to find it as the subject is quite different.  I won't post any further clues.

I post what is interesting to me.  Rates are for those who rate and provide feedback which I find is valuable.  I expected feedback on this one to be variable, and it's no surprise, but it's interesting, which is why I posted it -- look at the 'view' numbers to understand that.  People are drawn to it.  If they're disappointed, I don't know, except for you.

For me, it's 'art', but for others, who are looking for photojournalism, they won't find it, because that's strictly or even loosely not its intent.

But thank you for giving me the clue by which you graded it -- it allows me to understand that you graded in the wrong category.  It's meant to be more 'surreal' than anything, and I like it very, very much, even if it's not perfect.

Thanks for the feedback.

Compare this impromptu photo with one taken in Paris (I think) by famed photographer Andre Kertesz of a woman on a sofa, arms and legs akimbo -- a 'signature' Kertesz photo.

I think then you will understand my instincts to recognize the scene and take it, perhaps as a 'comment' on the Kertesz photo, which I was quite familiar with.

(sorry it took me so long to post this comment, but the similarity escaped me for a while until I looked at this photo anew)  jc
