sideris 0 Posted June 27, 2013 Taken by night stepping the limits and perhaps beyond. Evident technical defects. But, feelings? Link to comment

John Peri 1,029 Posted July 17, 2013 Well, "feelings" are very often what are the most difficult to describe Carlo, yet it is almost exclusively what this is all about. There are some people on the net, thankfully few, that go on and on about histogrammes, croppings etc., that bear no relation whatsoever to what the author is trying to express. Thankfully, some photographers are not too shy to point it out to the critics, but it can sometimes be intimidating for the beginners who are not sure where to turn. I say all this but it doesn't really apply to your image, because in my view the exposure is perfect, the balance and composition too, but above all there is the astonishing ability you have to convey the message that you do. This is something that cannot be taught, no matter how many books one reads or what equipment one has. It is a rare gift that you have Carlo, whether photographing people, scenery or just the wall of a building as I have seen you do more than once, the magic is there. What can I add, this picture is simply marvellous. Link to comment
sideris 0 Posted July 18, 2013 I feel very honored by your words, are the best prize that could be expected considering that come from the hand of a talented and meticulous photographer as you are. When I take a photograph usually I have in mind a previous idea of what I want to accomplish, but never very accurate, you know how it is.And in the line of your concept about feelings (axis, object, subject, and final destination of everything), in this case what I had in my mind this extraordinary full moon stormy summer night at the Peninsula Valdes (Patagonia shore) was a music repeated over and over again coming from my fondest memory, was that old Chris de Burgh lyrics song called "Sailor", which begins:"...underneath a silver moon ... the ship is like a ghost ..." Thanks a lot John, I hope you're doing well in the fantastic H. Link to comment
