Hi Raymond.

This is a beautiful picture. The colors are impressive!

I like it very well.

It is, indeed, colorful and eye catching and has many nice elements. Her pose feels stiff to me and she doesn't look comfortable (or edgily uncomfortable) in her surroundings. I wonder about moving her away from the wall a bit, though still in close relation to it, and especially having a more energized pose.

This looks much better when viewed large , there seems to be more seperation from the background and Joslyn stands out more . I like the pose , with one foot off the ground . The bent knee gives shape to her beautiful dress . Beautiful model and a colourful dress . I like it ! Bill

Raymond,

Joslyn is indeed a very pretty girl. You have focused well on her eyes. Her skin tone looks quite good except of the grayish area in front of her right elbow? It almost looks bruised. Her make-up and manicure look very nice.

Notice how feminine, slim and graceful her left hand looks viewed from the side or edge. Her right hand would look like that if you have her turn her hand just a bit so that the back of her hand isn't towards the camera.

It is very colorful, but I'm not sure that is a good thing for a portrait. Any lettering, drawings, pictures, symbols, bright colors, stripes or bold patterns on clothing or in the background with draw the viewer's attention away from your subject. In a portrait the subject is usually the most important thing in the photograph. You want the viewer's attention to be drawn to her face.

It appears that the main light is coming from below her? She has nice specular highlights on her lips, but no catchlights. Catchlights would help add life to her eyes.

The pose isn't bad, but why has she lifted her right foot? She doesn't look like she is walking. Maybe she has to go to the bathroom? It looks a tad odd.

The composition is quite good. There is a lot of room in front of her which throws off the left and right compositional balance a bit. It makes the image a little left heavy.

If you moved her farther away from the wall you could throw the wall more out of focus which would make her stand out more from the background. With all the bright colors and images on the background she would still be somewhat lost within the picture. It is really a pretty dress, just not what I would choose for her to wear while having her portrait taken.

Nice shot,

Mark
