Guest Guest Posted June 25, 2013 I like the texture and the lighting, both of which are quite energized. The back-to-back benches make for interesting subject matter and you shot them in order to establish a leading line that also has a certain kind of rhythm. I'm curious about your decision to shoot down, thereby losing a more open horizon line. This way, it feels more closed off, so that the payoff of the leading line doesn't seem to be there. I also wonder about more contrast being made with the garbage pails with black plastic so they'd provide a stronger counterpoint to the benches, though you may have wanted them more subtle. michaellinder 16,613 Posted June 25, 2013 Thanks for your critique. My perspective was intended to capture just the structures on the per - hence, the title. I took other shots the same morning giving the ocean as significant a role as the pier itself.I get your point about the garbage bags. Initially I did make them darker, but I just didn't like the look. I guess I was trying to emphasize the contrasts in the wooden slats. Link to comment
GailAnthonyHarmer 6 Posted June 26, 2013 I kind of like the image the way it is. You seem to have a mind for composition Michael, the blur works well with this image, also the bit of 'grunge' suits it as well. Link to comment
