Hello Eystein,

I really  like this photo; there's a wonderfully relaxed air to the composition, and the people are neatly caught in interesting and engaging poses mid-stride. Exposure is well handled given the harsh sunlight. There are a few technical issues with the image that prevent me from recommending it wholeheartedly however:

First, there is some very strong purple fringing evident, for example at the back of the striding man's leg, around the pigeon and the buildings on the right of frame, and around the clouds. They are very distracting, and a shame given how easily they can be removed. If your camera does not have the ability to correct for them natively, most raw editing packages have the ability to correct for them with minimal effort.

Secondly, the clouds seem a bit artificial; for example the view of the sky through the bell tower shows brighter background than the surrounding sky, and there is an odd outline on the left that I can't explain (where the horizon meets the buildings). The sky also seems quite dark given how bright the rest of the scene is. I don't know if the sky was composited in from another shot, from a bracketed image of the same scene, or whether the sky has simply been selectively burned in, but at the moment they are a bit jarring and give a slightly surreal feel to the photo.

Anyway, these are issues with post-processing, not of the original photo, so I suspect with a bit of work all these issues are surmountable. Given the high quality of the rest of your portfolio I'm sure you could make something with this image.

Thanks for sharing, Mark

Thank you for detailed comments and good advice. I really apprciate. I admit to have done a sloppy work in some of the details. I have fixed it and downloaded a new version. It hasn't shown up yet, but I have read it might take some time before it is visible.

Talking about the sky. I admit that it may look a little surrealistic, but I did it on purpose, because I like the contrast between the rather cloudy sky and the well lit square. You know the sun is high and outside the image, so in my opinion it is inside what we can call realistic.

Thank you again

Eystein

Hi Eystein, thanks for your response. I notice the new version has appeared now and I much prefer what you've done with it. Although there was very little wrong with the old photo, it was simply a few niggles that were distracting.

A very engaging street scene! Best wishes, Mark

Better seen large Eystein. I have enjoyed very much these images from your vacation. You have certainly seen so much. A very nice capture of the town Square. I imagine there are times when it is very crowded.
