idea why the quality of the pic looks so low on here...

You are certainly on the right track here, Sara. Photographing through fabric like this requires some experimentation before you get the result you want. What looks like noise if the pattern of the fabric which works beautifully. I would suggest trying to get a little bit more light on the front side so you see that there is material there.

The problem is that when I did put light onto the front, it would bounce light off and I wouldn't be able to see her face well...

Hi Sara

I find this a really interesting image. gets my imagination going. Makes me think of spiders prey I've seen recently, wrapped but still alive, for eating later. This woman looks trapped and scared in a similar way.

For me I don't want my brain to be told by the picture that there is material over a model. That I think would interfere with my imagination and the feelings evoked. I also think it works with the head cropped off.
