I think it's a good work, is not easy to get a good photo with this sun.

I like the colors, but the shadows are excessive.

If you take shot in a cloudy day (when the weather in not cloudy, but is not too clean too), the shadows would not get too dark.

 

This was a tough time of day for this shot. Again, did not do as well here. Did you get anywhere else while in SD. I loved the Badlands.

I drove I-90 through South Dakota from East to West (have done so twice). In fact, the BEST time to see Rushmore is at sunrise. The sun rises behind you, and the faces turn all sorts of reds and oranges. (AND, you don't have to pay for parking!) But the shadows are a killer. Do you see the helicopters immediately above George's forehead? They were doing something up there that morning.....
