Thanks for viewing/comments! Here's another Great white Egret shot in

gloomy day/ defuse light that helps control the white exposure well, I think.

This is a really excellent shot, the reflection really makes this image. My one critique of it is that the bird is basically centered in the image. It would have been better to place it on the right vertical third to aid in the composition and make it appear as though the bird were walking into the image rather than out of it.

Thanks Scott! Attached are a couple different cut I had for this shot, thanks for leaving your thought . :-)

Thanks Holgerr! Good to hear from you.

Here's my 2 cents, for what it's worth.  I think you need the reflection.  It's a great shot!  I agree that the exposure is good, and it's tack sharp to boot!  I prefer the squarish crop, or as you call it the vertical crop.  Do you have a version with a bit more breathing room at the bottom?  The reflection is so close to the edge.  If you were ever to frame this, the mat would encroach on the bird.  Maybe it's too symmetrical, but I'd prefer seeing the same amount of space below as you have above.

Thanks Christal! I think you hit all the important points there. I do have more room at the bottom and I think you pointed out stuff that I never thought about since I have never even printed of frame any shot I've taken in the last 30 years or so  :-) ... I shoot .. I shoot ... I shoot and never print.  The last time I printed and mount anything was in the film days when I printed my own color images, cut the mat and mounted them myself .. and it was 1983 (come to think of it). Happy shooting!

Appreciate your stop-by and left your thought very much!

By jove, I think he's got it!  ;-)  Seriously, I like it, but then I'm biased since it was my idea. And I'm the same way.....I rarely get around to printing out anything.  I've sold a few things and am always amazed at how great they look framed and placed on the wall.  We're getting ready to move, and I vow to put up some of my images in the new house.

Personally, I like the first cut and the last cut (your suggested cut)  :-). The on-line image does not show well but when I view large on my screen the eye and little fish does show well. Have a great evening Christal!
