In Paris the Metro is different. It's relatively quiet, (they run on rubber

tires), the crowds are mostly very well behaved, and even the

buskers, as shown here, are special and more civilized. Your

ratings, critiques, and observations are invited and most welcome. If

you rate harshly, very critically or wish to make a remark, please

submit a helpful and constructive comment; please share your

photographic knowledge to help improve my photography. Thanks!

Enjoy! john

John,

What a photograph! The fact that this was taken inside the Metro and the door open with the musician right in the middle of the open door is just super. I also commend the guys on both sides of the frame being caught with their attention towards the main subject. Just a magnificent capture and deserves a 7/7 from me. This is one of those WICHTI (wish I could have taken it) photo.  -  Lester

This is copyrighted at first showing, but it bumped around in my portfolio for a while.  Notice the background exhibition:  Giacometti, and then find when that exhibition was given and you can 'carbon date' this image, taken with a D200.

Taking D200 images with its relatively ISO high range sensitivity was a challenge best overcome in the relatively better lighted Paris Metro and even more so in the stations such as the one here, maybe at the Louvre, maybe not.  In any case, notice the color of the man's attire and how it contrasts and blends in with the Giacometti poster on the far wall -- that's synchronicity in my book.

I never knew how Photo.netters would take this photo, and Lord knows I never want for lots of interesting photos to post, especially more so more recent photos, so this one just got passed over, but with plans eventually to post it, then in reviewing my 'cloud' archives I came across it on the front page of my 'cloud' archive, and said to myself 'why not?'

So here it is, and I'm ever so grateful for your enthusiastic endorsement.

It's certainly not everyone's cup of tea, but it's a real photo that says 'Paris' through and through with no mistaking it for somewhere else.

Thanks for the unqualified support.
