Handheld shot! It's a bit of a cloudy day with the sun not on the good side hiding behind the clouds.

Thanks Greg & Verena! A bit of sunshine would have make this image much better.  Mr Del Sol was hiding behind the cloud though.  :-)

Kind of remind me the movie 'The Sound Of Music' ... with the song that they sing  .. The Sun has gone to bed and so must I .... - Dull picture!

Fab shot - 7/7. The background is completely blurred so as to focus the eye on just the eagle. The stop action is perfect. The camera settings were just the right combination!

Thanks Dave! It's a love & hate relationship, the weak lighting helps not getting the white burnt and allow the dark body to show details. However, it also suppress showing both white & dark area to it's best condition. Happy shooting!

I came it raise its average to 6,00 which is still far from the deserved! Congratulations TmJ!

Best regards

A wonderful image, perhaps the lack of direct sun avoids an excessive contrast. I like the sharpness of the plumage against the blurred dark background, good the eye contact, ciao Giangiorgio

Grazie Mille Giangiorgio! Sometimes I wonder why an image seems to have so much DOF with a wide open f-stop as this one. Probably because of the distance it was taken with, this bird was probably flying around 20-30 meters away from me, btw. I normally close down my lens but had to shoot wide open since the light was low and I can only manage a slow SS of 1/1000. Don't want to push the ISO too high either.
