A beautiful young Lady , excellent pose . The blurred blossoms make an interesting background . I like the way the colour bleeds on to her hair ! Bill

Dale, When I look at this image I am in a sort of wonderland.  Sometimes when studying the composition of such an image I just like to keep track of where my eyes go: I move immediately to her eyes (which are strongly looking directly at me), then study the out of focus pink above her head.  Then I go back to the eyes and down that arm.  I switch my gaze to the little hearts on the blouse and then notice her bracelet - then go back to her hypnotizing eyes and look at her other facial features: her lips, nose, chin  - I even notice her ear almost hidden in her hair.  Then I move to that strong Rhododendron pink to the upper left.  Only then do I feel ready to move on.

Before I leave I ask myself, what part of the picture got little or no attention? The answer is the far right - it had nothing to hold my attention.  That suggests, compositionally it is not helping the picture.  My solution would have been to move her head more to the right, eliminating the right side and increasing the space from her face to the left.  I would have reminded myself of the old compositional maxim: dead center is compositionally dead.  Placing those eyes more to the right would have given all of that triangular space to the left to add interest and occupy our attention.

My regards,

Jerry Matchett
