Please view large. I captured this in the final frail moments of light,

knowing there would not be a "sunset" this night. I truly value your

comments. Thanks for taking your time to visit and comment. Larry

LArry: This is a pretty scene.  But it's very flat.  There's no contrast and no blacks.  It's OK to have black shadows where there are no details to be seen.  That's the way it is in real life.  Blacks also provide contrast that the eye finds pleasing.  Try to get lighting from whites to blacks.  Unless it's foggy, most scenes have that in real life.  Nice shot.  Alan.

Alan,   You make a good point about the lack of contrast in this image.  The image was taken in the evening right before dark.  The sun had finished displaying any glow that was to be had.  This was a quiet restful time that I thought offered natural color abeit on the flat side.  I will take your advice and experiment with pumping up the contrast some.  Thanks for the  well-directed criticism.   Larry

Here's the image again with more contrast added.  Which is your preference the one here with contrast added or the original that I uploaded?  Thanks for your opinions.  Larry

I think it is a great capture, especially at the end of a long day. Every image cannot have spectacular color. You captured the image with the remaining light, then 'lights out'!!

Gail,   I agree. I find the contrast added image to be a bit contrived.  There's a beauty to this last light that is even and soft without shadows.  Thanks for your input.

Larry, I actually like it as posted.  There is a softness to twilight that you have captured here.  More dramatic lighting might have made for a more dramatic picture, but there is more to photography than making "punchier" images that jump off the page.

I have long wanted to photograph this entire area.  Doing it right would take some time, I think, and how many of us have the time or money to work that into the typical vacation?

Hi  Lanny,  Thanks for sounding in on this image.  I too like the original that captures the natural soft last light.  There is something appealing about the evenness of the light just before dark that isn't present at other times of the day.  Thanks for your visit.  Larry
