Please view large. I shoot in Adobe RGB or RGB Pro colorspace and hate

having to assign the profile to sRGB for upload. The colors just don't pop

as well in sRGB, but the alternative is a really flat image. Such is the

newest upload mechanism on PN. I'd be interested in your comments and

insights on the color space issue for upload. Thanks for taking the time to

visit and share your thoughts. Larry

It's slightly dark, IMO, yet the clouds seem plenty bright.  I thought sRGB has always been the color space used on PN (and other websites).

Changing color space to sRGB should not be noticable on a monitor, I leave my pictures for upload in PRO Photo colorspace but I've noticed when using the more recent upload options that I would get a major color shift once the image was uploaded, if you do not wish to change the color space then use the older single photo uploader, that should prevent any color shifts.

Stephen,

Thanks for your visit.  I think the left side is a bit dark too and already boosted the shadows to lighten it some, didn't want to overdo it.Yes sRGB is standard for the web. I think that's because the web tends to be low resolution.  I don't shoot in sRGB and think it's a pain to change the color space assignment each time I want to upload and image.

Steve,

I use PRO Photo also.  Perhaps I will use the old single uploader as a solution.   Thanks.

Larry

What causes the white line between the cliff and blue sky on the left side but I don't see it on the right side.  More noticeable when you clik to enlatge.  Alan

Oh, I just read your post Larry.  It must have been when you lightened the shadows. I also just noticed that the lightening effect also put a bank of white on the blue sky along the cliff.  I"m sure there's a way of lightening without doing that but I'm not that good with Photoshop.  Maybe someone else can comment.

Hi Alan,  Thanks for your comments.  Your question is a difficult one.  I appreciate your bringing the problem to my attention.  I did sharpen the image some, and the line could be caused by that.  It is also likely that lightening the cliff was not precise enough.  I can see a shadow of light on the left side that is definitely caused by opening shadows.  The truth is that this isn't the greatest image.  No matter what I do, I shouldn't expect got get orange juice out of a lemon. Thanks again for your astuteness.  Larry

Minor flaws don't stick much out - it's a gorgeous view, well balanced in composition and tones

Giovanni,   Thanks your visit and comment on this image.  The bright blue skies at Zion present difficulty in capturing dramatic images.  I appreciate your compliments.  Larry

A nice job of capturing the majestic sandstone towing above. The colors are very natural. Good work.
