I took the Original Image a few days ago, later in the afternoon. It

had been very sunny, hot and humid. Our weather forecast showed

thunderstorms would occupy most of the coming days. Little did I

know, the following day, a massive tornado would bring such

devastation to Oklahoma. I know I am not alone when I say our

hearts, prayers and support are with those desperately searching for

loved ones and trying to find what remnants remain of what was

once their lives. The Red Cross and so many weary volunteers need

what support we can send their way as well. I almost posted this

composition last evening sometime after 11 pm. The television was

on in the living room, and over the hum of my computer I heard this

loud noise that sounded like a big truck was idling outside my office

window. It was not a truck. I could not believe the force of the wind

and rain that was blowing outside my window. I rushed to tell my

husband who had intended to take down our outside umbrellas 'et all'

in preparation for the overnight storms a bit later on. Our storm

arrived early. What I was seeing out the back door that leads to our

deck and back yard was nothing like I have seen or heard before.

Fortunately it only lasted about 10 minutes, but the fear I felt could

only be a fraction of what those have felt in Oklahoma. Actually, you

would hardly know it happened. Not so for those we all are thinking

of now. Tragedy should never be what makes us feel so thankful for

our every blessing. (any visits, comments, always welcome, entered

You have a sensitive heart and soul Gail and this is obvious on your work! You should have posted this image in the "Fine Art" section 'cause it is all about beauty, feelings, deep emotions. This is true fine art! Congrats!

This has a very feminine feel, and I can even associate a fragrance with its soft appearance.  Now I'm thinking about those scented little cards that kind ladies from perfumeries bestow upon me when I'm clumsily shopping for my wifes birthday and Christmas gifts.

Beautifully done Gail!

Best Regards

Dear Gail,

This is a beautiful image and nicely titled too! For me this image evokes delicateness, freshness and a touch of warmth...all things that would certainly be a part of "spring's soft sigh."

Another lovely work from you! Beautiful!

Such lovely compliments, I am truly humbled. I never thought of posting it in Fine Art. I am grateful that you find it so attractive. While composing it I had someone in mind. While wanting to do an image of the lovely colours of Spring, I found that afterwards, the weather turned just the opposite. I had to shutdown my computer again just after submitting it for Critique. We have had about 3 Thunderstorms roll through this evening.

Your kind words have not gone unnoticed, sincere appreciation, Gail

Thank you for your interpretation of this image Alf. I can see where your thoughts came from. Nice to hear you visit Perfumeries to find your wife's favorite scent (or yours!!). The image does give that feminine feeling. I have thought of making a 'notecard' out of it.

So refreshing to hear a man say he 'shops' like that for his wife, and does not just give her money to get what she wants. It 'says' a lot about what an endearing soul you have.  She is a very fortunate woman.

Sincere regards, Gail

Gail, I love the softness of this one. The symmetry of it makes it seem like a mirror image ...almost; but it isn't exactly symmetrical. I am always in awe of your post-processing skills. A very feminine result, indeed. The tones are beautiful.

Hi Gail,

Beautiful creative image with wonderful processing & thought meaning.  My heart goes out to the folks in Oklahoma also.  Take care, Patsy

Strangely enough, as much as I like borders, I think in this case that the image could have been borderless. Full marks on your processing for the image anyway!

A beautiful piece of fine art, love the softness and pale pastel colours that work so well together. The composition really work so well. A very well constructed shot that could be used in many ways. Best wishes William.

There is something really lovely about this photo and how you have edited it - and the connection between this and the reflections on how vulnerable we are to nature. Flowers, breezes, drops of water, wind, floods storms - all part of the same pattern of creation, and yet so different. Very beautiful.

One of the things that I notice about you is the way your pictures often set an emotional tone. From the different sentiments and feelings they evoke in me, I would guess that your mood is as changeable as the weather here in Osaka. It's fortunate that you are blessed with the ability to channel these emotive swings into your photographic work and turn them into artistic expressions of the many sides of yourself.
