RETIRED!

This old tug was on ferry duty before the opening of the bridge some

20 years ago.It then assumed duty as an ice breaker until it was

finally retired two years ago as its rusty hull was starting to take

water.Now sits proudly on the wharf as a reminder as to how it

When I posted this earlier this year,in May,I was convinced that the next thing awaiting the venerable tug that had been a symbol and part of this island's history for almost half a century was going to be a fresh coat of paint and some access platforms for tourists.Alas,its existance has ended abruptly under the torch of a recycler and is sadly gone from the wharf and soon from memory.Thank you for the kind and so timely comment,my friend.
