I just love these birds, another fantastic capture!

Thanks Robert, Michael & Gail!  Such an elegant bird (same goes for the Black-necked Stilt also) and very romantic mating ritual. Right now, these Avocets own the pond since with chicks they are very agressive and chase off any other bird regardless of size. They are such a menace for the Mallards which also share the pond with their ducklings. This was taken at  San Joaquin Wildlife Sanctuary in Irvine, California if you are ever in town.  :-)
