On Saturday July 9th of 2010, Montreal born and Juno Award-

Winning Artist Sass Jordan and her band were the featured

entertainment during our Annual Rib Fest. She had the crowd

rocking in no time. I have not taken too many concert shots and I

found it quite challenging. At one point a man excused himself as he

walked by me. As I turned to meet his gaze I am really sure it was

Neil Young. He went backstage and I didn't have a chance to take an

image of him. Sass was also a Canadian Idol Judge in 2003.

Hopefully I will attend more of the Musicfest events this summer and

gain more experience in this area of Photography. Last summer

Carly Rae Jepsen took to the Stage but her Concert had the largest

attendance in the Musicfest History. I couldn't even get near the

stage due to the massive crowd. I have entered this composition

under Digital Alterations. I am fairly new to Black and White as well.

(any visits and comments are always welcome, sincere thanks, Gail)

Music events are really about atmosphere, mood, sensation, passion. All of this is really well brought out here, and the b&w conversion is totally perfect. Very cleverly done, very effective. Yes, do more in this genre.

Saying that you are fairly new to black and white, you did a superb job here. I like the tones but the one that strikes me is your creation of this image. The double image all the more renders the image more dynamic and the light rays you created is beautiful. Congratulations!

Great! It would make a great album cover!! (remember Gail when there was such a thing as record albums!! Ha!!) Like what you did with it. I can almost feel the beat from looking at it!!

WOW...one of your best, Gail.   It has great b/w tones and I love how you have done the post-processing.  Bravo!

Hi Gail,

A "larger than life" post like quality.

Well shot.

The B&W presentation was a good choice here.

Warmest Regards, Mike

Great shot of S.J. but it is the skillfully thought and executed double image that takes it over the top.Félicitations for this excellent work!

thankyou for that enthusiastic comment Warren, and yes I remember Record Albums!! I have 2 of Sass's from the 80's. We still have a record player and all our albums in the Family Room Downstairs and I often go down there and listen to some of the old tunes!!!

Much appreciation for those very encouraging words of critique. I really enjoyed working on this one. I will continue to try more in black and white, I find it challenging, but enjoy it.

Sincere thanks for your encouraging words Lester. I rarely try Black and White. It took me a bit to arrive at the 'double image' plus the background of the image wasn't the best. The was a challenge finding a suitable background.

Warmest regards, GAil

Thankyou for your visit and comments Mike.

When I first posted this image I forgot to enter the Focal Length.

I was at 250mm with my 50-250mm and as I was editing I recalled our conversation about how a lens can only do so much when someone or something is far away. (remember the swan in the pond that I was so upset about at Myrtle. I was so upset that I didn't get good focus, but the swan was further away).

I always appreciate your advice and comments.

Warmest regards, Gail
