Great composition The left side is blurred out yet the distance is not, I am curious to know the reason or cause of this.

This was done with a Lensbaby Edge80, which is a tilt lens. With such lenses, the focal plane (that is, the piece of the show in focus) is not perpendicular to the sensor as usual, but you can make it nearly perpendicular. When you move the focus ring, the slice of focus moves from side to side.

Don't know if I've been able to explain it.
