this is some of my first attempts of using Photomatix Pro for HDR. This is

a 3 frame shot using my D7000 and Tamron 17-50 on tripod.

In my opinion, it lacks contrast. You could probably improve upon it by adjusting the levels to fill the histogram from side to side. The lightest parts of the clouds aught to be white not gray. It's very "illustrated" looking due to the HDR process, depending on your tastes that may or may not be a good thing.

Thank you guys, I will say that it's a little brighter viewing it larger and not on this post.  I agree that it is darker than I like it here.

I'm not a big fan of HDR; but this is a little more subtle than the glowing edges too often seen. The effect is a Maxfield Parrish sort of feel that is nice. Very "painterly".
