It took me 5 years and thousands of frames to get a decent image of a

diving osprey before the bird hits the water. There are some blown out

highlights but over all I'm happy with the in-focused and sharp image.

Thanks for viewing, commenting and ratings

A superb shot and well worth the wait (and effort).  I love the raw intensity in those eyes and the fierce projection of the talons.  Excellent work... Mike

Isaiah 40: 30-31 certainly applies here...

Very good catch SNN! A very difficult shot with the combination of 7D + 500mm. I think the newer camera such as the 1DX and new 500mm II or 600mm II are more capable in these type of endeavor judging from some of the image that were shown to me at the pond by a fellow who was shooting with a 1DX + 600mm II . He moved up from a 60D and was pleasantly supprise with quite a few talons extended shot like this. I was told the Nikon D4 is also a good candidate for this type of shot as well.

In any event, congrats on a very good catch of a difficult shot! TFS! :-)

Perfectly timed shot, well done! And worth the long wait!

I've no criticisms to make apart from the issues you've raised, but don't think the highlights are objectionable. Congratulations again!

Sinh,

Very good timing!

I expect I will run across the one with the splash?

Fine action shot Brother Nate,

I think it might be even better with a tad of contrast/brightness adjustment.

Hope you don't mind.
