stp 6 Posted June 7, 2013 Wonderful forms and colors that fill the frame nicely. Fred, it's a colorful sunset (or sunrise) -- can't go wrong with that. I wish I knew what it was that made these kinds of photographs so popular...and your prediction so correct. I was at the Grand Canyon several weeks ago, and hundreds of people would jam the viewpoints every morning to photograph the sun as it appeared over the horizon. Nearly all of their photos (except perhaps those that did in-camera HDR) will show a bright spot of light with a black, featureless foreground, and yet hundreds still do this every morning. I do like Robert's photograph, but I've long considered a sunrise/sunset a "cheap" way to get a "great" photograph (great = popular). I think what makes one (like Robert's) stand out over the others is what's included in the foreground. Colorful skies and perhaps reflections of these colors on water usually isn't sufficient. alberta_pizzolato 21 Posted June 7, 2013 Dariusz - I think you're on the right track but have it backwards. Tolkiens Ents were humans who resembled trees. These trees very much look human and to my eye are conversing, perhaps about the stunning sky. When is a cliché not a cliché? Here's a fine example. Congrats Robert. Fine job! Link to comment
