Thanks for viewing/comments! Killdeer are knonw for playing the broken wing

trick and I think this bird is trying to do the same when I got a bit close even

though it's not a well done one in this case. Google for 'killdeer and broken

wing' to see some video, it's rather interesting.

It's funny that you mentioned the broken wing trick, Tm.  Yesterday I was walking on the beach & was taken by surprise by flapping & fluttering of wings.  I thought I had stepped on the bird as they blend right into the beach, but it was a Killdeer that was pretending to be injured to protect the two eggs she had in a pile of dried seaweed. They are beautiful birds when they fan their wings.  J

Thanks Janine! That make two of us since I had no clue what happen when I saw this a few days ago either. Only when I try to post the image and google to make some note for the image that I discover that it's a common Killdeer trick .  Greetings from SoCal! :-)
