Matthew Brennan 3 Posted April 11, 2013 A different presentation of an often photographed subject. Best viewed in larger form. Link to comment
alfbailey 2 Posted April 11, 2013 I really like the way you have framed Taranaki between the trees, like most iconic landmarks it can be difficult to find an original take, but I think you have succeeded here. The colours and textures of the trees and foliage have a HDR appearance that gives a kind of surreal story book illustration impression to me, yet I don't think it is HDR as the sky appears to be quite natural. In any case I like the result.Just one question : - Why the seemingly high ISO setting of 1250 ? Compliments & Best Regards Alf Link to comment
gardena 0 Posted April 12, 2013 Yes, this is somewhat different and very effective. At the same time it looks a bit like a print of the scene which is also effective. Link to comment
Matthew Brennan 3 Posted April 12, 2013 This is a single hand held exposure not an HDR composite. I have used some dodge tools and highlighting in PS to illuminate much of the foliage in the foreground. Using the Active-D Lighting settings in camera really enables me to better edit shadowy areas. This exposure was captured in very low light, only minutes before sun down and there was a lot of low skidding cloud around allowing just this 1-2 minute glimpse of the mount - thus ambient light was rather low hence selecting ISO 1250.
