Good shot! In Brazil, we use this technique to fish in lakes. This fishing net is known TARRAFA which we can only catch small fish or captivity’s shrimp. Best regards. Roldao

Also called a "cast net", or "throw net".  I used these all through my childhood.  Nice photo!
