No sun striking so we don't get the glorious colored plumage and bright head colors.  Distracting scrub should be out of focus. Needs cropping to left and right of the birds, right up to the birds, and  a little above the heads too,  so that the comp. becomes nice and tight, (mask with paper to see this). Then the  camera could have tilted down a bit to show more foreground, to give some dimenion to the shot.  Try setting saturation to+3 and sharpness to 6 for better results, and program that into memory for non-human shooting, on your Mk2.
