The Giant Getty Museum on at least two campuses nearby with

billions to spend on acquisitions steals the spotlight but the Los

Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) situated in a former

department store at Fairfax and Wilshire Blvd., on LA's West Side

draws a million visitors a month to view its 100,000 acquisitions. The

question is whether the high profile, world class Getty with its huge

budget has overshadowed pedestrian friendly LACMA. Your ratings,

critiques and observations are invited and most welcome. If you rate

harshly, very critically or wish to make a remark, please submit a

helpful and constructive comment; please share your photographic

knowledge to help improve my photography. Thanks! Enjoy! john

LACMA (Los Angeles County Museum of Art) is considered a very, very prestigious place for acquisitions and exhibitions of photographic art; if you're a photographer and are chosen for their collection, you may have 'arrived'.

Their curating is highly skilled and prestigious, and this is well known especially in the Los Angeles art world which is quite large.  It is less well known nationally, compared to the Getty and some famous New York City museums.

It is a million visitors a year, not a month.

My error in transcribing.

Thanks for proofing.
