View large, please. As expected, sunset and sunrise cast

significantly different moods and at the same site. In my six images

of the Zabriskie Point badlands this is most evident. Why call

natures beauty at its best, caused by erosion, badlands? We know

that this land presented formidable obstacles to those attempting to

cross California in the nineteenth century. Yet, the fact remains that

nature is perceived differently by visitors, hikers, and

photographers and environmental enthusiasts and those wishing

to exploit or "develop" (another loaded word) the land. I am most

interested and grateful for your critiques and comments. As always,

thanks. Larry

Hi Larry,  I really love the crispness/clarity, shadows, 3-d effect, and geology of the shot. The large view is excellent! Jim

Jim,   Thanks for your comment.  Yes, you are correct, Death Valley is about geology and almost every view in the park highlights it.  Thanks, again.  Larry

Hi Larry,

I just can join the commendations, a really great scenery, very well captured!

The contrast between the yellow-toned foreground and the blue background, gives an idea of the 3 dimensions!

Best regards,

Sepp

Hi Larry, I admire your dedication and skill. Last year I was just been paddling water it seems to me now. Time to apply all the theoretical knowledge I have and produce some better work. Then again the new academic year has just started and dramatic landscapes are hard to find in Japan - unless you are a mountain climber. My photography in NZ is bit hit and miss because my time there is more about visiting family and friends than photography. I do get to the coast which I love, but it is often the same bits! Take care, Adrienne

Richard and Sepp,  Thanks for your visits.  One could be at Death Valley for a month and continue to get different images from the same spot.  I found photographing here to be quite a challenge.  Thanks for the compliments.  Larry

Adrienne,  It's always wonderful to connect with you.  Thanks for your visit.  Don't fret about your photography.  It's quite nice, and there is more to life than clicking cameras.  My wife doesn't believe I think so though (LOL).  It sounds like you have a full academic life in Japan.  Just keep sharing the images you do take.  It would be nice for us to get back to NZ; there's so much to see and experience.   Take care and thanks again for your visit.  Larry
