Paul, What I usually do is just take it down and immediately repost with the info that I want correct the second time.  (If I get it wrong a second time, I just give up and go to bed)

I wanted to suggest that you consider what I call the "axis of activity" - the two things that are really doing something are his face (eyes) and the hand with hammer(?).  I uploaded a different cropping to see what you think. I also lightened the darkest tones to allow us to see his hair better.

Jerry's crop is fine, tightening in on the musician's focus on the percussion... however, i like ur wider crop, Paul, presenting a sense of the environment ( eg, the graffiti) as well as the focus on percussion; the tones in yours are rich and attractive w/out diminishing the subject, Paul, and the image is very sharp, so i understand Jerry's desire to light up the details. the original version is very powerful and beautifully composed. ;-} dp

Thanks Jerry and Donna for giving two points of view. That always makes a discussion more interesting. I think in this instance I have to stick with my original crop and tones .I am still open to suggestion Jerry, but the suggested crop and tones don't work for me, because I still remember what moved me when I snapped the shutter. What moved me was how much graffiti is a part of central Bogota, the absolute pure blackness of this man's skin, hair and pants, contrasted with his pure white coat and of course the home made instrument. If I had spent more time in Bogota, I think graffiti, in my images, would have become more significant. I guess it already is, but I resented it initially. I actually feel a little guilty that I lightened his face up as much as I did. Maybe I will give it another try in color. Thank you both so much for your thoughtful comments.

Let’s see….post image and text, find errors and delete image, repeat….go to bed it all else fails.
