Guest Guest Posted April 1, 2013 I like the transition from darker foreground to lighter background. The emphasis on both the arrow and the staircase is well conceived. It's got a very graphic presence, and the blue toning gives it a cold but not too cold presence which supplies and evocative mood. There's a little story here, so it's not just a graphic or design-oriented photo. It's nicely layered but the differing effects of the lighting in different planes of the photo. Has a great feel to it. Very visual. Link to comment
wolfgangarnold 142 Posted April 8, 2013 many thanks for your comment - you've described the photo and my ideas very accurately. The snow was a lucky coincidence as it carried a bit of reflective light into the darkness and supported the transition from dark to light. This is the parking area of a newly built large outlet store in walking distance from my home - dull and deserted on Sundays but a wonderful 'playground' full of shapes and symbols for the 'graphic' photographer.
