Zabriskie Point provides a different atmosphere each time depending on what time or season you are there. The rendition that you have captured here is very appealing, Larry. The pastel tone and the higher pov for this shot shows the beauty of the undulating landscape of this spectacular place. BR

View large, please. Please comment on this image from the iconic

Zabriskie Point at Death Valley National Park. I quickly learned that

capturing desired images does not happen easily, if at all, in this

expansive park where light is everything and camera angles and

views are close to unlimited. This park requires many visits to get it

right. This may be the spot for wannabe photographers with their

tripods. Thanks for your comments and critiques. Larry

Please put in great big letters after the title LARGER VIEW AVAILABLE because no one should miss out on this absolutely delightful image, with all of its light dhadow shades and textures.  I love the compression of the layers too, and all topped by that warm glow.

The inclusion and positioning of the "wannabe" photographers is in my opinion a very welcome addition to the image.  Of course it adds scale, but I think more than that it adds a surreal quality that I find most compelling.

Sincere Compliments and if it was up for rating it would earn from me a  most well deserved Excellent 7

Lester,  Thanks for the compliment.   After seeing your images from here, I am honored by your remarks.  I am sure that the seasons and times of day and weather make all the difference here.  I visited Zabriskie Point three times, sunset, sunrise, and about 10:00 A.M.  There were so many possibilities that I felt frustrated each time, but am glad to have a few nice results.   Thanks, Lester.   Larry

Alf,  Thanks so much for your accolades.  I really value your top rating and comments.  I too was struck by the textures, shapes, and undulations that nature dishes up here.  This is a sunrise image, shown especially by the coats worn by the wannabes.  It was cold up there between 6:15 and 8:00 A.M.  About including the wannabes, Ansel Adams has an image in one of his recently published national parks books that is quite similar with at least 4 sets of tripods and photographers.  This is why I call them wannabes.  Ansel's image was likely taken in the 1940's, so looking for that great shot hasn't changed any.  I found the rocks going down to where they are standing to be quite soft and decided to stay off.  I agree that the shot from above works well anyway.  Again, thanks, Alf.   Larry
