During the first week of May last year, we had a sudden downpour

and thunderstorm begin just as I had all my gear ready. Once it

ended I headed straight outside. I love taking images just after the

rain. Unfortunately many petals were damaged due to the force of

the rain. I didn't mind the overcast sky as I searched for flowers to

photograph. One of my neighbors had just planted Pansies in her

flower urns. Large heavy water drops weighed down the blossoms.

While I was taking the images I didn't notice the reflections in the

droplets. After viewing the images I was very puzzled by the white

marks in the reflections. There was nothing 'white' around me. Just

the overcast yet slightly bright sky overhead. The only thing I have

been able to come up with is that the sky was reflected in the

droplets. I put a couple of dark layers over the damaged petals and

soil that was in the pot. (your thoughts and visits are more than

welcome. Warm regards, Gail (Macro)

Hi Gail,

This is an interesting presentation that reminds us that water droplets , like lens , can produce some wonderful effects.

The high clarity level seen from the fine texture and defined water droplets comes from your proper use of the Canon 100mm F/2.8 macro lens.

Warmest Regards, Mike

Nicely done ... I also like taking photos after a rain, unfortunately it's hard to time it right and be free to shoot .... did you have any trouble with the purple looking blue in the shot?

Hi Dale,

Thankyou for commenting. I didn't really have a lot of problems with 'blue' other than a ting around some of the edges, esp some of the water drops. I tried reducing blue in the Hues and Sat best I could. Your support and encouragement is much appreciated.
