During the summer on days too miserable to be outside, I often will

pick a few flowers from the garden and take images in my kitchen

where there is the best light. Improving hand holding of my camera

was my focus that day. Mike Palermiti has been coaching me on this

for some time. This image was taken in June of 2011. I had only lost

my Mom less than 2 months before that and immersing myself in my

Photography was truly a blessing. This day however, I was having

trouble with exposure. I did not want to use the Onboard Flash. My

images were turning out far too dark. Frustrated, I opted for Program

Mode and set the Camera to Spot Metering. I do not use Auto Focus

for macros. My Flash did fire, but I managed to hold the camera fairly

still. Any visits, always appreciated, sincere thanks, Gail (Macro)

Gai......Good job on the selective focus. The image is sharp where it needs to be. Colours also work well here. (Looks more like a iroquois cut than a beard).Regards, Bob.

I love this very personal, unique portrait of an Iris.
Gail, I too take photos in the kitchen for the good light coming from the window. The funny thing is that my window has same curtains, with the same design that I can see in the upper right side of your photo.
Take care.

A really great shot with excellent composition and the colour that is just so in your face. The focus is in my opinion is spot on as the sharpness really hi-lights the detail. Well seen and executed best wishes William.

Hi Gail,

A very good use of the flash, lens setting and hand holding the camera.

The reward: beautiful results my dear friend.

Best Regards, Mike
