Did from a Passiflora flower and fractalius filter

I think is not an easy flower to be caught in an image, with multiple shapes and colors, filter I applied seems to me that enhances the idea of passion flower.

Hi Radu,

This is very well made. The relief of the flower is well reendered, and the fractal effect   integrates itself perfectly.

It lets me think about an eye.

Congratulations !

A great shot of a flower which you have improved with your creative flair. The picture really shouts dynamic energy. You have created a piece of fine art from your imagination. A very well constructed shot, best wishes William. A 7 from me.

I have often suggested that we can't always look at an image for just aesthetics but also for its function. Here, I began to consider function until I saw that this image has been digitally altered. My first thought that it might be more of a technical image, something various genres are more interested in than aesthetics alone.

My reason for considering function was because I was having a bit of an aesthetic issue with the main focus area, which seems "clunky" (a technical term) to me. The colors there are nice, but the overall form, which could have significance in a technical sense (for flower folks) just isn't very elegant or well formed aesthetically, IMO. The background, the digital creation, does have a more aesthetic and ethereal feel to it, which really seems at odds with this more awkward mass of focus. But, then, it actually simplifies the composition over the "original" at the cost of "accuracy and truth", something generally held in high regard in that other genre.

Anyway, i am more intrigued by the background than the rest of the image. Overall, it feels like it wants to be too much, but ends up falling short in both areas, aesthetics and documentary. Certainly, it has some curb appeal with its color, but I don't know that that is enough. I think there are others in the set this one occupies that combined to work in both categories much more effectively than this one.

Let me begin with the title. "Energy" indicates that this is not a scientific work but an aesthetic work. Yes, flowers produce some sort of energy but the title connotes passion and not scholarly inquiry. This is obviously meant to be metaphorical. It designed to create excitement. Unfortunately, there is little to be excited about. Anyone who has been around local photo contests, photo.net and whatnot knows what the inside of a flower looks like. This is not a bad photograph. It is nice. Nice in a conventional sort of way. But it is not exciting. It is too unremarkable to exude energy to the point where I awestruck. it is nice. Mitt Romney would have no trouble putting it on his wall.

There are too many elements to be examined. Moving through and looking at the elements then takes me into questioning... "is it in focus or not". My brain was chattering like a cheap lens in low light hunting for focus.
On a technical note: while the background is altered, the image of the background in the water drop is not.

To John A. - I read with attention what you said and analyzed about this photo. When I saw this flower I did lot of images with it and looking them I saw that is a difficult subject with so many shapes in different layers and I decided to do just one with focus only on upper part of it,especially with water drops,I never said is very good and best can do with it.When I worked it I had in my mind just to have focus on water drop and digital alteration for bg.Appreciate your honest opinion.
To Alex S. - the title was just as always a moment inspiration when I saw those colors round the flower, nothing more.I invite you ,if have time, to see my other flowers photo in portfolio and see if ''energy'' comes somewhere out from them or have a more visual impact.Opinion appreciate.
To Richard H. - So as I said I didn't want to have all flower in focus, just the upper part of it,and in a drop that is in focus the image(from bg) all the time is sharp and clear like in a magnifying glass, here I kept the original image in drop even if I did a filter for bg.Opinion appreciate.
