The boat is in the field for a repairs, so there are three reasons why "Barba", actually my cousine, is dark :

1. picture was taken on a hot summer miday and he is in a counter-light (didn't want to use the flash to fill in)

2. sunshade was red thus spilling a red tone over his face

3. he is deeply tanned (of course, face, neck and arms only)

and last, but not least, I also like the picture this way.
