There comes a time in the life of most Western children who have

enough to eat and clothes on their back when they begin to change

from children to adults; part of the transition is the realization that

they are too young to do adult things, but too old to do kid's things,

and for many of them, 'hanging out' and 'being bored' is the result, as

they await their chance to play life's adult lottery to see if they can

grab adult life's golden ring or will fall short. Your ratings, critiques

and observations area invited and most welcome. If you rate harshly,

very critically, or wish to make a remark, please submit a helpful and

constructive comment; please share your photographic knowledge to

help improve my photography. Thanks! Enjoy! john

Bored...what is that?   And, no smart phone in hand, you've captured a moment in time.

I could try to denigrate your comment by noting that this is a photo that's a few years old.

However, this particular country had texting in full use eight years ago, when nearly everyone texted nearly everyone else, and furthermore, the wired phone system in this country is so antiquated that it is rare that new construction even provides for a wired telephone, and people who move into flats (apartments) often do not get a phone unless a phone line is already wired into the flat.  Many already have their mobile phones, and at this time, among young people, SMART phones (Samsungs especially) are nearly universal, but for $25, anyone can have a basic phone with LION battery that will work for phone purposes AND text.   Texting is the main way most communicate and have for years.

So, although I might have simply said 'old photo' that would have been dishonest.  In this particular country, even a few years ago (and this is only a couple of year old, not older), phones were glued to ears and/or text messages in front of eyes constantly.

They still are.

These girls are exactly as you note -- bored, or simply passing the time as I did once in the 'old days' -- maybe even taking a moment to see 'things' defined by the moving clouds in the sky -- and that includes the evening sky, which reflects so much city light.

Well made comment, Dominick.
