you can almost see what he's thinking! Nice details. I wonder if it's possible to use higher f stop  for greater dof on that lens- just  curious.

Thanks Greg & Verena! Yes, yes .. I would love to use a higher f-stop, something like F9 or may be even F11 but it was so sudden I had the setting all wrong for bird in the sky (I normally open up the EV for bird in the sky). This one is practically a fullsize shot. Good to hear from you! :-)

For having "the setting all wrong" it sure turned out pretty good.  I personally think the shallow DOF is fine. You nailed the focus and got stunning detail on a bird in flight, something I've found to be almost impossibly difficult.
