Poetry is not only this sensibility demonstration, but the photographic adroitness you display with this exceptional shot. The subject of an elephant is relatively common, but with this degree of sharpness and contrast, it is one of a kind. A most amazing photograph, the cover of any BW high-class photography book. Congratulations.

There are elephants and there are elephants. Here is an elephant one has certainly never encountered before. The corn would have to be very high indeed to be as high as this elephant's eye but more likely that corn has pulled up it's roots and fled for its life long ago.

yes, they are poetry, Paul... they're old souls. the choice of profile provides a powerful close-up.. and those dalmatian spots? such diversity. that mouth is so friendly i wanna kiss it; elephants always seem to be smiling or laughing. and that eye, thinking deeply as elephants do. the tones and sharpness are awesome. this, Paul, on my wall! ;-} dp
