Such a beautiful capture. As with the shot of the Female, the snow as it rests on the branches is beautiful, and you have the bonus of the tiny flakes as they fall. This male is a beauty!!! Lovey capture, excellent DOF. This would make a great Family Christmas Card.

Thank you for a lovely presentation of this colourful finch. The larger image shows good definition and accentuates the falling snow.

If the truth be known, I took this into PSE6 to modify the presentation (crop some surround), but every example I tried wasn't right and so I left it as it is........ because it is right (smiles).

Outstanding image... across the board........... well done.

Regards

Very nice Greg & Verena! First time I've seen a Cardinal ?  perching in snow image and aside from bare branches and snow, the slow speed give viewer a dynamic sense of what's happening with those snowflake streaks. The bird seem chubby or may be he just puff up to fight the cold . TFS!

Such beautiful scenery, in such a great moment while it's snowing, love the composition and the contrast of white and red colors. I have never seen a cardinal like that yet. Love it. TFS!

Thank you all so much- couldn't imagine folks not having seen a cardinal. But, there are many birds we don't have in our area - no owls, e.g.

Graham- of course it's perfect!! In fact, I am not happy with the resolution of the large size. which is a 50% crop of the original image. Cardinals are fairly shy and I got this with a flash, trying to see if it helped.

TmJ, He is fluffed up, letting his sunflower seed digest a little till darting down to get some more.

This was handheld, while leaning up against our kitchen door.

Snow is now gone, at least for a few days.

'Couldn't imagine folks not having seen a cardinal.' Haha, can you imagine folks not having seen Europe?! Yes, the way around may seem OK, however by perhaps spliting up the 'Single photos' in three sections would improve the loading. Simply ask some whistleblowers like this beautiful bird here..! Warm regards from the Netherlands, Olaf.
