One of our favorite summer pastimes is 'Daytripping'. Travelling

nearby Southern Ontario roads to see what we might find beyond the

next turn. Quite often we don't have any set Destination. My husband

often asks 'Which Direction?' and we settle on one. Our route often

changes many times during the course of an afternoon, but we are

always happy when we come upon an Antique Shop where we can

browse till our 'hearts' content. (more than often it is till my 'hearts'

content) I usually end up taking images long after Jim has had his

full. He just reclines the seat in the car, and has a nap while I

continue waundering. (any visits and comments are always

welcome, my sincere thanks, Gail)

Great to see you found a bottle of Grolsch Beer in an Antique shop in Ontario.

Grolsch is a beer from the Eastern part of the Netherlands, called Twente.

Twente has its own dialect, European considered a minority language, and its own "culture". Common Dutch people can't understand Twents.

Grolsch is a beer for the Dutch market, but has a small export too.

I like the processing of the picture.

Regards, Marcel Koelen, Twente.

many thanks for your History of this Beer Bottle. I had no idea where it came from. When I found it, my husband had already gone outside to the car and I was standing on an old crate to take the image. I could not reach it, and the owner of the store was busy with a customer. I just may go back and see if it is still there. It is a very unusual bottle and we have a collection of Beer Bottles at home.

Glad you enjoyed the processing and I am including a pic of the original bottle for you as well. Kindest regards, Gail

Another masterful creation Gail! You have a clever way of making antiques really look ... antique!! Read your story and the explanation in the above post as well. Very interesting. TFS.

Gail,

Nice simple composition rendered beautifully.  Framing well done, I really like the way you brought out the textures. Tonal values excellent.  Thanks for this one.

Hi Gail,

A fine use of the Canon 100mm macro lens at F/2.8.

An excellent transformation to this state for presentation purposes.

Warmest Regards, Mike

I really like the B & W rendition, oooh and you found a "Grolsch" bottle too! I think they still sell that beer with them kind of tops.

I used ot have a great bottle collections (no not from drinking vast quantities of beer) II used to work alongside an excavator driver and quite often we would find old bottles buried in the soil from years before.

I will have to go now, looking at this has made me quite thirsty : - )

Compliments & Best Regards

Alf
