Guest Guest Posted August 21, 2003 I only have a little idea about I'm seeing, but I like it Link to comment
ken_thalheimer 3,739 Posted August 21, 2003 Taken purely as an abstract. Orig in color and polarized. Converted in red channel. Your thoughts? Link to comment
alex_hawley 0 Posted August 22, 2003 This is really good Ken. It makes maximum use of the shapes, perspective, and geometry. Link to comment
jimmcnitt 0 Posted August 23, 2003 An abstract that nevertheless stays grounded in reality, meaning that you left enough visual clues that in a glance I can tell I'm looking upward at the sky along a modern (or should it be postmodern) building facade. I'm curious about the pros and cons of the red channel conversion versus a standard adjustment layer>hue/saturation>desaturation. From the looks of this, it must act much as the traditional red filter in BW, boosting contrast and darkening a blue sky. I'll do a little experimentation, but it sounds like an interesting shortcut around a lot of curve/contrast manipulation. Finally, thanks for your comment on "Shutterbird." I have an inexplicable fondness for that image, and I'm gratified that you like it too. Thanks, Jim Link to comment
triple_mmm84 0 Posted August 23, 2003 This is the best abstract I've seen on this site! Wonderful lines and contrast...but not too much contrast. Just an amazing balance of shapes compositionally...and yet it's not so abstract that you have no idea what you're looking at. Link to comment
WJT 609 Posted August 23, 2003 Very clean, solid work. One day I hope to understand what "converted to BW in red channel" means. Regards. Link to comment

John Peri 1,007 Posted January 1, 2004 Ken, that's precisely why you take nice pictures of the young ladies. You have an amazing eye for balance and design. I wish the opposite were true too. I would be incapable of doing this. Link to comment
stewdbaker 0 Posted August 15, 2004 Anytime someone comments on one of my images, I try to view their porfolio. Ken, I absolutely love your B&W work. Super tones and contrast. ;-) Link to comment
