The thickness of the mist changed with each moment as faint

breezes came and went. On this particular occasion the mist on the

far side of the lake parted for a few moments and I managed to get

this shot and a few others. The orginal image had more mist above

and its consequent reflection below, but there wasn't much interest

there so the final image is about 2/3 of its original size. Your

thoughts and comments are always appreciated. Thank You.

It's a beautiful shot Alf! The stillness of the water, mist, bare trees with their reflections all contribute to this wonderful atristic expression.

Alf, this is well composed and the exposure is spot-on.  I love the mist and the reflections, but the position of the white building is what makes this a photo that is well-above average.  Excellent work.

Hi Alf,

Exquisite work. A+++

Using the Sigma at 150mm F/2.8 is as good as it gets ......................fine clarity displayed across the scene.

Best Regards my friend,

Mike

Love these three works which are very simple but very pleasant to look at.  They look like some kind of the painting.  Learning.  Best Regards,

Alf,

The entire scene is lovely, but it is the inclusion of the white building that nails this composition!  That creates the contrast and tension that makes it all work.  Congratulations!.  I think I will add this to my list of favorites in order to visit it easily again.

Jerry

I have photographed this lake many times, and one of the most difficult things is to catch it right with no wind. I was very fortunate on this particular day as there was the foggy element present too.

Many Thanks for your interest and thoughtful feedback Robert.

I agree that little white house or boat house (I have never actually found out what the building is used for) is the key element to the scene.  I am really pleased it appealed to you too.

Many Thanks for your positive feedback Bill.

I quite like the "Japanese" anaolgy, their art is something I greatly admire.

I cropped about 33% in total from the top and bottom, with no detrioration in quality, and I guess I could have cropped a whole lot more if necessary, one advantage of all those pixels.

Gerrard ye, but how about Saurez.....another three goals, that guy is strating to become another Anfield legend, but hopefully for all the right reasons this time.

Tough derby game ahead for the Gunners against Spurs, I shall look forward to that one!

Take Care

Wow High Praise indeed : - )

The Sigma 70 - 200 F2.8 & D800 combination seems to be working very well together.

Many Thanks for your thoughts and encouraging feedback!

I guess the misty elements do convey a painterly aspect to these images, I'm very pleased that they have appealed to you.

Sincere Thanks & Best Regards

PATSY

It was so quiet, the blanket of fog seemed to muffle every sound, then a crow called out loudly from a nearby tree, and there was "the faintest of echo's" : - )

Glad you liked this one Patsy.

Many Thanks & Best Regards

I have photographed this lake a dozen times or more and although there are interesting trees (as in recent posting "Listen to Reason") and rocks, reflections etc, it is that little white building that always draws me to photograph it.

On this occasion I walked the to the far side of the Lake to get a closer and slightly different perspective than is possible otherwise.

I am very honoured that you consider it a favourite!

Sincere Thanks for your thoughtful feeback!

The shed provides a nice solid white to balance the heavier fog on the right.  I feel no tension looking at this-- just a sense of peace and calm.  Very nice.

Thank you so much for those most encouraging words!

Nature was on my side, when it decided that the fog was going to stick around all day, and the little opening parted to allow the shot.

Cheers Mate!

Many Thanks for your positive feedback.

The lighting was kept to an optimal level by the fog, dull foggy days like this can cover a multitude of sins : - )

Many Thanks for your interest and response.

The fog did have a damping effect on any sounds, and the calm water was very tranquil......quite eerie in a way.

One of your favorite spots - I recognize it well Alf. This composition is lovely in it's own right, and technically -  perfection from what I read of those who have the ability more than I to rate 'technicalities'. Beautiful. I hope you had a grande day!

First of all, this special pano crop really works in this type of landscapes, and i impressed by the tranquility it conveys. The mist, faint painterly color set and silence in the scene all made it very special. Details in larger version is also awesome. Bravo.
