Then and Now

LenMarriott

'Then' shot about 1974 with Rolleiflex T, likely on Kodak Vericolour film. 'Now' shot on Canon A540 in 2013. Technical details less important than the content in my opinion. Best, LM.

My son, left, about 1974, in the outfit his Grandma brought back from Hawaii for him.  My newest grandson, his nephew, right, in the same outfit taken in Feb. 2013.  This is the reason women keep drawers full of baby clothes years after their offspring have left home to make their own families. You just never know when they might be needed.  :-)  Just thought I'd throw this out there as a trigger for those contemplating their own nostalgic posts.  Hows it working for you?  See another 'Now & Then' sample here.  Best, LM.

I am glad to see those two sets.

It is life as we know it at (now),and life as we did not expect it at (then ) at all,a series of the same bodies but with different souls linked with a chain of memories.

here in this image is a three generations (including you ) from the 450000 generations of the human being ,their all expertise ,skills, improvements, and history have passed to your blessed (now) ,even without he got a notice of it ,and he will pass it all to another so many generations ,that I wish for you my friend Len to witness the first .

Have seen my grandson ,the past week ,wearing his father suit I bought for him thirty years ago ,it is a sweet pleasure that I felt.

Thanks for your thoughtful and in-depth comment.  Your similar situation, the suit you bought 30 years ago, was the sort of response I had hoped to trigger.  It would seem that our cultures have more similarities than differences and the similarities are what we should focus on. And you are correct, the future is now in the hands of our grandchildren.  I just hope we can leave them a world that they can control the direction of since we have messed things up a bit.  Would be nice if you could post a 'Then and Now' shot of your son & grandson in your portfolio.  Best, LM.

Hi Len

Most women's habits ( as it is in all around the world ) showing that the intimacy of femininity with a family memories is much more what men can retains. And certainly in this thread, women can say a thousand times more than men.

Through this image, my greetings to the families that do not find the taste of life without the care provided to their parents and their grandchildren.

Thanks for your insight.  Bottom line:  Family and\or loved ones is the single most important element of life.  Best, LM.

Love the the Then and now. Great expressions and that outfit looks starched, ironed (the one heated by coals?) and fresh off the Montreal clothes manufacturing line (*_*).  Do  I offer a suggestion or not? What the heck and I think you would appreciate me telling you but you might consider it toe-picking instead of nit picking.  ...........................

Very cool idea, I wonder how many generations this outfit will see...

Maybe  each new child in the family should  enjoy this ceremony... it would make an interesting scrapbook.

"....Heated with coals...."?  Tony it's 2013 not 1813!  :-)  But the outfit is in pristine condition.  Your observation on the clipped toes is valid.  Comes from hand holding a p&S camera on a very active subject & concentrating on expression instead of the whole subject.  Tripods are no match for an active 1 year old.  I think I aced the expression at the expense of the toes.  Fair trade! My opinion only.  Good to have your input.  Thanks.  Best, LM.

If it weren't for that old shoebox...............!  :-)   It's nice that family shots resonate so well with other viewers around the world.  It makes the effort all the more worth while.  Thanks for your visit and your thoughts.  Best, LM.

Now there's a thought worth some serious consideration.  We'll just have to hope that our offspring are on the same wavelength.  It could happen though as they do seem to appreciate these photos.   Always great to have your input.  Many thanks.  Best, LM.

I love the images Len. Capturing baby pics is all about capturing the priceless expressions and although years apart you obviously have retained your skills to capture that perfect moment ! ... then & now .. :)

They're the only subjects that will sit for me.  And they're the only ones who will laugh at my jokes.  :-)   Thanks for your kind words.  Best, LM.
