On Father's Day last year, my Dad had treated himself to a new Nex

Camera. He was totally engrossed with it when I got this capture.

This is an image I am doing for my children, grandchildren, and

brothers. Dad's Maggie can be seen in the background of the frame.

I can't help but think of Dad tonite. He just got back from a Cruise

last Sunday, has had good health all Winter, but is now feeling totally

miserable with a horrible cold. He sounds so awful. I keep calling him

to see how he is. While he is very healthy for '80', the Mom in me

can't help worry. But he does have Maggie to keep him company.

Because of all the snow we have gotten in the past 2 days, my

husband has been at his house to clear the driveway both days and

checks in on him. Today he got his 'chicken' for 'sammies' or 'soup'.

(I entered this under Digital Alt. as it is an image meant for a

Scrapbook or Photo Album, any comments or visits are most

appreciated, sincere thanks, Gail)

Hi Gail,

Lucky you to still have your Dad.  This is a wonderful portrait & tribute to him.  I am sure he is very proud of this.  Take care, Patsy

Just a great capture of a moment of full concentration;I like the background and that you have those bottles in your composition.Great frame with K9 looking in and of course your usual PP touch to create that 3D effect with the frame.Bravo!

Thankyou for your visit and kind words of critique. There aren't too many family celebrations where a few bottles of beer aren't on the table. I questioned myself if they would be distracting?? But they WERE part of the Celebration. ;-) cheers, Gail

Thankyou Andrew, yes memories do keep them alive and give us smiles when we view them. I do hope we have many more Celebrations like this. ;-) sincere regards, Gail

It is most encouraging to see your dad so totally engrossed with his new camera.  There is a tendency amongst employers, institutions and sometimes society in general to "write off" our most senior citizens, and with it all the knowledge and experience that they possess.

This is a fitting tribute to a man that gave his daughter the great gift of an interest in photography!

I kind of like the beer bottles too, now thats a pastime I can really empathise with! : - )

Compliments & Best Regards

Dad is so active with his Photography. He still belongs to the Digital Photography Club in Peterborough, and recently after the Nex 5 he had, soon got a Nex 7 and now he has acquired some new excellent lenses and a Canon Mark 5 11. Photography truly is his passion. Garry Barker here on our site belongs to the same Photography Club. It is great that Dad is still in such good health he still is in the home that he and Mom shared. His darkroom is such a 'great' space. If I was smart I would make myself a bigger space. I don't have too much room to move around in what I call my office. I would hope that in some of the more modern Seniors Residences that they have Photograpy Clubs, it would be great to continue this 'love' well into the very Senior years. Dad very rarely has a Camera out of his hands. His kitchen table always has a stack of 13x19's he has printed. He just got back from a Caribbean Cruise and I am eager to see his images. Thanks so much for stopping by Alf, next time I have a 'brew' I'll raise one for you!
